Anya Tagawa fondly recalls the most thrilling moments of her career in natural resource conservation, like rappelling into lava tubes to access rare plants that had thrived in the shelter of the tube. Or blazing trails and flying by helicopter to far-flung places in Kohala to search for rare plants. 

 “It’s an exciting field,” Tagawa said recently. “It’s been an exciting life, for sure.”

Kūlia Scholarships Still Available for Residents Furloughed, Laid-off Due to COVID-19

More than 200 prospective students have already applied for a new University of Hawaiʻi Community Colleges scholarship for Hawaiʻi residents whose employment has been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The Kūlia Scholarship, which was announced on July 22, is designed to help those recently furloughed or unemployed.

As Hawai‘i Community College looks forward to re-opening campuses this fall, the health and safety of our students, faculty, staff and community is our top priority. Without that, we cannot deliver the high-quality academic programs and services that will help students advance their lives through higher education and in turn contribute to the economic renewal we so badly need. 

Spring 2020 Dean's List Announced

Hawai‘i Community College proudly releases the names of the following students who have achieved Dean’s List honors for the Spring 2020 semester.  The Dean’s List requires students to have completed 12 or more credits for a letter grade achieving a grade point average of at least 3.5 (B+) for the semester.  The attached 290 students have attained this distinction. Please join us in congratulating them!
