Hawai'i CC professor to perform in 'Arirang: The Cultural Spirit of Korea in Hawai'i'

Enjoy and evening of vibrant performances that showcase and critically reflect on the importance of the cultural traditions of Korea. This show will feature a community-based choral presentation of “Arirang,” the song many consider the un-official anthem of the Korean nation. Also featured will be folk and court dances by Halla Huhm Korean Dance Studio from Honolulu and a multi-generational, diasporic piece that integrates Korean shamanistic elements into the interpretive storytelling of the recent tragic sinking of the Sewol ferry in Korea.

One in five women and one in 16 men are sexually assaulted on college campuses while they are students, according to national statistics. The University of Hawaiʻi wants to compile the most accurate picture of the climate on its ten campuses when it comes to sexual harassment and gender-based violence and is asking students to help by participating in an online survey from January 20 to February 20, 2017.

Students interested in the new Veterinary Assisting Program being offered on Hawai‘i Island in Fall 2017 are invited to an information session Tuesday, February 7. 

The Windward Community College program is being offered on Hawai‘i Island in partnership with Hawai‘i Community College – Pālamanui.

Fall 2016 Dean's List

Hawai‘i Community College proudly releases the names of the following students who have achieved Dean’s List honors for the Fall 2016 semester.  The Dean’s List requires students to have completed 12 or more credits for a letter grade achieving a grade point average of at least 3.5 (B+) for the semester. 343 students have attained this distinction this semester. Please join us in congratulating them!

Hawai‘i Community College celebrated International Education Week from Nov. 14-17, culminating in the popular “World Culture Night” event at the campus cafeteria in Hilo.

World Culture Night featured an International Photo Contest, food prepared by Hawai‘i CC’s Culinary Arts students, displays, a lecture by Hawai‘i CC professor Dr. Taupōuri Tangarō, a Korean mythology puppet show by Bonnie Kim, and more.
