Assessment is the process of gathering information/data on student learning and services for the purposes of evaluating and improving the learning environment.

Program Review at Hawaiʻi Community College is a shared governance responsibility related to strategic planning and quality assurance. Program Reviews are available to the college and community at large to enhance communication and public accountability.
The College Effectiveness Review Committee (CERC) is a college-wide standing committee of the shared governance College Council. The committee annually reviews and responds to to each program’s or unit’s comprehensive review and reports its findings to the Council which may, as appropriate, include the committee's evaluations in institutional planning recommendations to the Chancellor.
