Lā Honua Earth Month 2022 to Feature Many Events for All Ages

In 2022, Lā Honua Earth Day will be celebrated all month long. Lā Honua + Malama Honua ~ Earth Day + Earth Month will take place in April, which coincides with the Hawaiʻi Lunar Month of Welo.

Fall 2021 Dean's List Announced

Hawai‘i Community College proudly releases the names of the following students who have achieved Dean’s List honors for the Fall 2021 semester. The Dean’s List requires students to have completed 12 or more credits for a letter grade achieving a grade point average of at least 3.5 (B+) for the semester. The following 249 students have attained this distinction.  Please join us in congratulating them!

Culinary Arts Alum Finds Happiness in the Kitchen

Kamaile Gusman graduated from the Hawai‘i Community College – Pālamanui Culinary Arts program in 2021 and has quickly gained a foothold in the local culinary industry. The connections she made and skills she learned in the Culinary Arts program helped her land a job as a pastry cook at the Kūki‘o Beach and Golf Club even before she graduated, and that’s where she continues to work today.

The Spring 2022 semester at Hawai‘i Community College is well under way. We kicked off our semester in January with our “All-College Meeting,” which focused on sustainability and in particular climate change and carbon sequestration.

Celebrate Lunar New Year!

Celebrate Lunar New Year with Hawai'i Community College's International Education Committee.

The activities include a Coffee and Tea Party on Tuesday, Feb. 1 from 9-11 a.m. at the Manono Campus in Hilo, Building 381, Room 10.

There will also be a Coffee and Tea Party at the Hawai'i Community College - Palamanui campus in Kona on Thursday, February 3, 8-11 a.m. near the Culinary Arts classrooms.

When Sally Ancheta walked onto the Hawai'i Community College campus to join a job readiness training program in 1992, she had no idea how big a step it was. But as it turned out, it was the start of a transition out of poverty and domestic abuse into a thriving higher education journey, family and career. 

Auto Body Repair and Painting students help make a wish come true

A 17-year-old Kurtistown resident who suffers from kidney disease and complications from treatment had his wish granted by Make-A-Wish Hawaii and a team of partners on Sunday, Dec. 5.
