Hawai‘i Community College proudly releases the names of the following students who have achieved Dean’s List honors for the Spring 2022 semester. In preparation for the Fall 2022 semester, Hawai'i Community College students are invited to join the Ka'ao Student Success Conference on Friday, August 12, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon.
At Ka‘ū High & Pahala Elementary School (KHPES) they are teaching students to dream big, and on May 13, 2022 some of those dreams were realized as 18 students earned certificates in Agriculture from Hawai‘i Community College.
“I think it’s a pretty cool thing to be in high school and getting a college certificate,” said Collin Hanshew, a junior who is earning a 24-credit Certificate of Achievement in Agriculture. “I can say I’m the first in my family to do that, so it’s sort of a bragging moment.”
Eight Hawai‘i Community College Automotive Mechanics Technology students took the fast lane to graduation as members of an innovative pilot program — the first of its kind in the State of Hawai‘i.
Just one year after high school, these students graduated from the Hawai‘i Community College - Pālamanui campus in Kona on May 14 with Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degrees in Automotive Mechanics Technology (AMT).
Aloha,
Mahalo to JCCIH and the Taste of Hilo Committee for the continued support of Hawai‘i Community College and its students!
Hawai‘i Community College Culinary Arts students in a patisserie class are getting real-world experience this year during an internship at Short N Sweet Bakery & Cafe in Hilo.
Sydirah Aricayos was one of three Culinary Arts students on a recent morning making sweet bread rolls, frosting cakes and making cookies at the bustling bakery.
“I like learning the different processes for how they do things,” said Aricayos. “It’s a good blend of the familiar and the unfamiliar.”
The Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Hawaii (JCCIH) has donated $15,000 to Hawai’i Community College (Hawai‘i CC) using the proceeds from the 23rd annual “A Taste of Hilo” online silent auction that took place in the fall of 2021.
The donation was celebrated at a luncheon and check signing ceremony in March at Hawai‘i CC’s Bamboo Hale restaurant where Culinary Arts students prepared and served a three-course meal.
