Hawai‘i Community College will host financial aid workshops on the evenings of February 6 and 7 to help prospective students and their families apply for financial aid.

College staff will provide one-on-one assistance completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), which will help students apply for grants and scholarships that can help pay for their education.

Hawai‘i Community College proudly releases the names of the following students who have achieved Dean’s List honors for the Fall 2018 semester.  The Dean’s List requires students to have completed 12 or more credits for a letter grade achieving a grade point average of at least 3.5 (B+) for the semester.  The attached 288 students have attained this distinction.  Please join us in congratulating them!

Happy holidays to all! This is a time of year for reflecting on the many things in life there are to be grateful for, and one of those is the amazing community support Hawai‘i Community College receives from the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Hawaii (JCCIH).

Norwegian Cruise Line’s Pride of America cruise ship recently served as a floating classroom for 30 Hawai‘i Community College students who are enrolled in the college’s Hospitality & Tourism (HOST) program.

Turkey has been grabbing the headlines lately: the murder of a Saudi Arabian journalist in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul, a key role in the conflict in neighboring Syria, an attempted coup in 2016.

Four Hawai'i Community College Nursing students received scholarships from the Kona Community Hospital Auxiliary in August. 

Three Hawaiʻi Community College students put their science and technology skills to use in the astronomy sector this summer as part of the Akamai Workforce Initiative. The student internships culminated in community presentations of their projects on August 9 and 10 on Hawaiʻi Island.

West Hawai‘i residents interested in earning a college degree online from a University of Hawai‘i campus can get the inside scoop from successful alumni during a workshop later this month.

The workshop, hosted by the University Center, West Hawai‘i, is titled “Getting Your Degree Online? YES, it’s Doable!” and takes place Wednesday, Sept. 19 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in Koali 107 at the Hawai‘i Community College – Pālamanui campus in North Kona.

Poets Christy Passion, Ann Inoshita, Juliet Kono and Jean Yamasaki Toyama will read from their work that revisits the 1932 kidnapping and murder of Native Hawaiian prize fighter Joseph Kahahawai and the events surrounding it, commonly known as “The Massie Case.” The poetry reading will be followed by a Q&A.

This event is free and open to the public. All are welcome to attend. Light refreshments will be served.
