The Hawai‘i Community College Dean’s List requires students to have completed 12 or more credits for a letter grade, achieving a grade point average of at least 3.5 (B+) for the semester. The following 322 students have attained this distinction:
Fallon Abdul, Tyler Aburamen, Hannah Mae Adona, Joshua-Nazareth Agno, Kolan Aguiar, Jayce Ah Heong, Tyson Ah Puck, Charles Akao, Wendy Akau, Shances Akima, Caitlin Akiona, Trina Alapai, Alicia Alcain, Kaniela Anakalea-Buckley, Quenten Anastacio, Haley Ancheta, Raymond Andrada, Daniel Andrade, and Ke'ale Andrews.
Twenty-five Hawai'i Community College students, plus faculty members Carrie Mospens (English as a Second Language) and Pamela Scheffler (Natural Science), arrived in Dublin on Monday, May 16 to learn about Irish culture and ecology.
Barbara and Bob Arthurs, longtime supporters of Hawai‘i Community College and the University of Hawai‘i at Hilo, recently established two new endowed scholarships. The scholarships were provided by Bob Arthurs in honor of the legacy that Barbara Arthurs provided during her career at both Hawai‘i CC and UH Hilo.
One scholarship endowment was established at Hawai‘i CC and one at UH Hilo through the University of Hawai‘i Foundation. The UH Hilo scholarship is specifically for students who have transferred from Hawai‘i CC.
Hawai‘i Community College and representatives from Hawthorne Caterpillar celebrated the company’s continued support for the Hawai‘i CC Diesel Mechanics program during a check signing ceremony on Tuesday, May 3, 2016.
The company donated $6,875 to support student scholarships at Hawai‘i CC this year, and has supported Diesel Mechanics student scholarships for the past 10 years.

The ceremony is an opportunity to join with the community in presenting awards that recognize the exceptional performance and academic achievements of our students. Hawai‘i Community College student Sean Kirkpatrick has received the prestigious University of Hawai‘i Presidential Scholarship award that is given each year to students with a record of outstanding academic achievement.
At a meeting on April 21 on Oʻahu, the Board of Regents unanimously approved the appointment of Rachel Solemsaas as chancellor of Hawaiʻi Community College. Her appointment begins on July 1, 2016.
Hawai‘i Community College’s Alpha Psi Epsilon Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society recently attended the Pacific Regional Convention held at Leeward Community College where members received awards for service completed in the 2015 calendar year. The Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society is the international honor society of two-year colleges and academic programs, particularly community colleges and junior colleges.
Student leaders Desiree DeCanto-Gardner, Nicholas Eisen, Sean Kirkpatrick, Piadora Mana and Candace Wharton received the 2016 Distinguished Chapter Officer Team award.
