Instructions
A. Writing a Set of Instructions
- Write a clear set of instructions for one of the procedures listed
under CHOICES below.
- Utilize the suggestions and formats given in chapter five of your text.
- Put your instructions on a web page, using a form for either an ordered
(ol) or unordered (ul) list.
- Add a picture if you can find an appropriate one. (not required)
- Type an address section at the bottom of your page and include: your
name, the date of completion, and your e-mail address linked to a message
form.
- Assume your audience includes not only your classmates and teacher
but anyone who reads our project web pages.
FOR YOUR CONVENIENCE, this page shows examples of both ordered and unordered
lists. At the bottom of this page as well as at the bottom of other pages
of the Project W6 web site, there is an example of an address section.
VIEW source above for particulars about this page or ask your teacher for
help. Also ask others who know. Some of your colleagues are becoming very
good at making web pages.

- How to join a list serve
- How to make a distribution list in PINE
- How to send an attachment with an e-mail message
- How to make the e-mail option on a WWW page work
- How to accesss UHCARL from the classroom computer.
- How to access the Expanded Academic Index from a remote site.
B. Critiquing a Set of Instructions (20 pts.)
- The teacher will set up the exchange of reading and following instructions.
- You must follow exactly the instructions written by another classmate.
- Write a one-page critique of those instructions.
- Explain what works and doesn't work in the directions. (Follow handout
from teacher)
- Send the critique e-mail to your classmate with a copy to your teacher
(birch@hawaii.edu)
- A classmate must successfully follow the instructions you have written.
- Revise your directions after you receive your classmate's critique.
