Writing Assignment #3: Summary

In this assignment, you will create another web page; this time the page will include two summaries, appropropriate links, and a list of at least five technical references available from the UHH library or an on-line full-text source.

Web Page Contents

• a paragraph summary of one comprehensive web site containing information relevant to your technical field or proposed research topic
• must be at least ten sentences
• follow one of the suggested formats in Chapter #3 of the text
• a link to the above summarized site
• another paragraph summary explaining what you plan to do for your research report (Writing Assignment #4)
• must be at least ten sentences
• follow one of the suggested formats in Chapter #3 of your text.
• short list of relevant technical magazine articles from an on-line full-text source and/or books available in UHH library
• a total of five sources must be listed
• items should be utilized for your research report (Writing Assignment #4)
• appropriate icons or pictures to make the web page more attractive
• additional relevant links

Procedures

• Read Chapter 3 from text.
• Understand the purpose and contents of a summary.
• Take Chapter 3 quiz (scheduled for ............)
• Scan the World Wide Web for sites related to your technical field.
• Identify relevant and interesting sites.
• Keep notes and addresses or make bookmarks.
• Summarize one site according to the particulars given above.
• Identify UHH library or on-line resources.
• Select a topic for your research report.
• Summarize what you will do with the report.
• Create your web page with contents listed above.
• Utilize Notepad or HTML Assistant Pro to create document.
• Proofread summaries.
• Maintain your new page the rest of the semester.
