Mission Statement:
The mission of the HawCC Career Center is to assist and support
students and prospective students in clarifying and planning purposeful
career, employment and educational goals through the use of informational
resources and career counseling.

Career Information:
The following types of career information
are available in several formats including: computerized occupation
files (i.e. Career Kokua), books (i.e. Occupational Outlook Handbook,
Encyclopedia of Careers, and Vocational Biographies), newsletters
(i.e. Career Opportunity news) and CD-I (CD interactive) disks.
- EDUCATION: Find out what training or schooling is necessary for the careers you are
considering

- JOB DUTIES: learn what acitivites you will be engaged in as part of the careers you
are investigating

- JOB OUTLOOK: Determine whether Hawai'i or the US Mainland will have openings
in the jobs you want.

- EARNINGS: Find out how much you'll get paid for the jobs you are pursuing.

Job Search Assistance:
Create an effective RESUME and cover
letter: Our staff, computer resources, books and worksheets can
assist you. Our WinWay Resume computer program offers you many shortcuts.
Books, worksheets and computer programs provide numerous sample resumes
and cover letters.
Learn how to INTERVIEW: Pamphlets, videos, computer programs
and handouts are available to assist you in developing effective
interviewing skills. Take the WinWay Interviewing Quiz to see how
much you already know about answering interview questions effectively.
Learn how to do a JOB SEARCH: Explore ways to network of "get
the word out" about your job search. Access the Book of (Employers) Lists
and try out computerized job search resources including JOBTRAK and America's
Job Bank.
Scholarship Information:
Interested in pursing scholarships? The Career Center houses scholarship information from
a variety of organizations. To do your own personal scholarship search, come in today to check out the resources we
have available. We have scholarship binders which lists various scholarship applications, internet access to
scholarship websites, Bulletin 15 for graduates of Hawai'i high schools, and tips and strategies for obtaining
scholarships.

The Career Center services are free and available
to you if you are, have been, or plan to be a HawCC student. A career counselor
and student assistants are available to assist you in using the center's
resources and services. For the Spring 2002 semester, our walk-in hours
are Monday-Friday 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. or by appointment (808) 974-7741.
