o reference assistance
o information literacy instruction
o intrasystem library loan
o reserves, print and electronic collections.
Before being granted library access, HawCC distance learners must be authenticated by having a currently-validated student ID.
Test proctoring will be provided for UH distance education classes.
This policy will be
administered through the office of the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs.
Approved by the Academic Senate, 2-16-07
(This is not part of
the above policy. There are several questions from the ACCJC Distance
Learning Manual about technical support for students that will need to be
addressed in the future: 1. “Proper training should be available for
students in working independently and in utilizing the necessary technology.” [page 5] 2. “How does the institution provide assistance to
students who are experiencing difficulty using the required technology?” [p.15]. According to Barbara Arthurs
[2-7-07 e-mail to EO] it is okay to deal with these topics later when funding
for technology support, including DE, will be provided. )
