Students from the Hilo and Pālamanui campuses were inducted into the National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS) in December 2019.

Inaugural Cohort Inducted into National Society of Leadership and Success

On Thursday, December 12 and Friday, December 13, the inaugural Hawai'i Community College chapter of the National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS) inducted its newest student members into one of the nation's most prestigious leadership honor societies.

Over the course of the Fall 2019 semester, over 65 students engaged in a five-step leadership development program to build leaders who make a better world for themselves, their communities and beyond. Thirty-five students at the Manono campus and 11 students at the Pālamanui campus completed all five steps to reach induction into NSLS.

In addition, Hawai'i CC faculty and staff who positively contribute to the lives of students were nominated and voted by the inductees to receive special NSLS awards. These awards include the Honorary Membership Award (Dorinna Cortez, Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Raynette "Kalei" Haleamau-Kam, Interim Pālamanui Director), Excellence in Teaching Award (Siniva Pota, Business/Accounting Lecturer-Manono and Toni Cravens, Mathematics Professor-Pālamanui) and Excellence in Service to Students Award (Jeanne Batallones, Counselor-Manono and Emelda Alaoan, Accounting Clerk-Pālamanui).

Congratulations to all of the Fall 2019 NSLS Inductees and special awardees! We look forward to recruiting and inducting a new NSLS cohort for Spring 2020.
