Hawai‘i Community College hosted a kīpaepae welina welcoming ceremony on Thursday, June 1 to welcome Melanie Wilson, the new Dean of Liberal Arts and Public Services, and Laura Hill, the new Director of Nursing and Allied Health.
Hill and Wilson both bring many years of experience to their new positions at Hawai‘i CC.
Hundreds of Hawai'i Community College students celebrated their academic achievements during commencement ceremonies held May 12 in Hilo and May 13 at the Hawai'i CC – Palamanui campus in Kona. Congratulations to all the graduates and their families!
Hawai'i Community College celebrated 50 years of the Model Home Project on April 28 with a reunion event hosted by Hawai'i CC Alumni and Friends, followed by a dedication ceremony on May 11 where the college and the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands handed the house keys to this year's recipient.

To formally recognize community-based organizations for their support, the college established the Mahalo Award in 1995.
Hawai‘i Community College (Hawai‘i CC) is pleased to announce it will begin delivering its Fire Science program at the Hawai‘i CC – Pālamanui campus in Kona starting in the fall 2017 semester.
Hawai‘i CC began offering an Associate of Science in Fire Science in Hilo in 2005. It has become one of the most popular academic programs with 110 Fire Science majors currently enrolled.
The Arugula Pesto Pasta Giveaway on April 17, a unique collaboration between students in several academic programs, was a fun, healthy success that led to 60 students getting a free entrée.
The project sprouted from the Hawai‘i Student Success Institute after Agriculture Instructor Lew Nakamura, English Instructor Sharon Dansereau, Associate Professor of Art Meidor Hu, and Counselor Karen Crowell attended a workshop on seed sharing.
The Hawai'i Community College Children's Center has openings for the 2017-2018 academic year. The Children’s Center provides care and education for children 18 months to 5 years of age for children of students, faculty, and staff of Hawai'i Community College and University of Hawai'i at Hilo. Teachers at the Children’s Center have specialties in Early Childhood Education.
