This course includes an on-line component called Mastering Biology. All students are required to access the Mastering Biology website to complete assignments that are normally due on the day of each assigned lecture. ie the chapter 2 assignment is due on January 17. All reading and assignments should be completed prior to the lecture on that topic!

Policy:

1. Make-up exams will only be given if the student contacts me prior to the exam date with a valid reason for missing the scheduled exam.

2. All students are responsible for obtaining an email account and completing all "Mastering Biology" assignments.

3. Updates to the syllabus are posted on the web site regularly. All students are responsible for checking the web site at least once a week.

4. Students are required to take notes on all reading and keep those notes separately from their lecture notes. Reading notes MUST be brought to every class and will be checked periodically without warning.

Extra Credit: Up to 7 points of extra credit can be earned by participating in a Service Learning project. All projects MUST begin within 4 weeks of the first instructional day. Students are required to complete a minimum of 20 hours of service and keep a reflective journal. Journals are due to me during the last week of classes.
